Galway Bay fm newsroom – The energy regulator is being urged to immediately approve Athenry’s connection to the Natural Gas Grid.
Galway East candidate Séan Canney says the regulator originally approved the move in 2007 – but then then reversed the decision.
He says that a significant number of homes in Athenry were built to facilitate natural gas connections – and homeowners are now paying double for bulk tank gas.
The independent Councillor says that people who purchased homes expecting to use Natural Gas are now waiting 9 years for a connection.
Councillor Canney says there’s plenty of demand, and the service should be provided as soon as possible.
