Galway Bay fm newsroom – Construction works for a new primary care centre in Tuam will get underway in the coming weeks.
A design team is currently preparing an overall development plan for the Old Grove hospital site in the town.
The Tuam primary care centre is one of several facilities being delivered at the Old Grove site in the town.
The HSE announced funding of 2.5 million euro for a new community mental health facility at the site in November last year.
The site will also have a mental health day hospital, a base for community mental health teams, and accommodation for staff working in Early Intervention and School Age teams.
Long-term plans for the site include a community nursing unit, day care center and Dementia Unit, which will be delivered as funds become available.
Construction is expected to begin on the Primary Care Centre next month.
