Galway Bay fm newsroom – The County Cathaoirleach has written to Bord na Móna urging it to reconsider a move to outsource peat haulage to private contractors.
Cathaoirleach Michael Connolly says the outsourcing to private companies will displace around 30 Bord na Móna drivers who will now be moved to work on the bogs.
This, he claims, will result in job losses for some staff, especially those working in East Galway.
Cathaoirleach Connolly says there is uncertainty for Bord na Móna drivers and potential job losses for seasonal staff.
