Galway Bay fm newsroom – An Environmental Impact Statement for a controversial planned service station on the M6 near Oranmore will be published before the end of the year.
The project is being led by Transport Infrastructure Ireland under its national motorway service area plan.
Following a site selection study, a preferred site for the development was identified around 5.5km north east of Oranmore, in the townland of Lisheenkyle West.
Local area councillors have raised concerns that the new service station would be in competition with the new Galway Plaza development at the Loughrea junction on the M6.
The motorway order and EIS for the project is due to be published by the end of the year.
An oral hearing hosted by An Bord Pleanala is due to take place early next year.
