UHG paid almost 300 thousand euro by Pharma Companies

Galway Bay fm newsroom – An investigation has revealed that drug companies are funding dozens of medical and nursing posts in some of Ireland’s main hospitals – including UHG.
A study by the Sunday Business Post has revealed that almost one-third of the HSE’s most senior doctors are receiving money from pharmaceutical firms.
Nationally, more than 17 million euro was paid out last year – with drug companies paying for items such as a couch, DVD player and a coffee machine.
Last year, UHG received almost 300 thousand euro in Pharma payments – excluding money paid for research and development.
While it is illegal for companies to pay doctors to prescribe their products, they can pay doctors to sit on advisory panels and give lectures.
