Council urged to monitor ‘dangerous’ structure in Loughrea town

Galway Bay Fm newsroom-Galway County Council says it is monitoring a wall at a housing estate in Loughrea town following safety concerns.
The matter was raised by Loughrea area councillor Shane Donnellan, who said a tall stone wall at Caheronaun is unstable, and a safety hazard.
The local authority says it’s investigated the matter and it believes the wall does not pose any immediate risk to the public.
Council staff will continue to monitor the structure, with a view to carrying out work if the wall becomes unsafe.
