Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway City Council has requested government sanction for up to 18 additional staff members, but no response has been forthcoming.
The Department of the Environment has come under fire from some city councillors who say the local authority is being starved of resources.
The council says sanction has been sought to replace retired staff members – but the government has not yet responded to a series of applications.
The City Council hopes to hire additional housing staff, a procurement officer, and an Irish Language officer in 2016.
