New city-based social support service launched for west of Ireland

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A new social support service for the west of Ireland has been launched in the city this lunchtime.
Helplink Support Services is a non-profit organisation offering free or low cost social support services from a city-based Conflict Resolution Centre.
The centre is based at Merchants road in the city and is providing a range of mediation services to people based on their ability to pay.
Residents across the county will be able to avail of professional support in areas including family, housing and community conflict mediation.
The resource is also set to offer programmes to secondary schools throughout Galway in areas including conflict management and peer to peer mediation.
The new Conflict Resolution Centre was launched by City Mayor Frank Fahy at City Hall just moments ago.
Speaking to our reporter David Nevin at the launch, Centre Manager Lorraine Lally outlined some of the areas the new resource will cover.
She says the new mediation service is based on an individuals ability to pay – and will be accessible to everyone.
