Unemployment in Galway down by 13 per cent

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Unemployment in Galway is continuing to decline.
Last month a further 634 people came off the Live Register, leaving the city and county’s unemployment figure at just over 15 thousand 600.
The biggest decrease in unemployment last month was in the city where almost 500 people came off the Live Register.
There are now just over 7 thousand 800 people out of work in the city.
The next biggest decrease in unemployment was in Loughrea where 78 people came off the Live Register.
There are now just over 1,600 people out of work in Loughrea.
It Tuam, the unemployment figure decreased by 42 last month, leaving the number of people out of work at just over 2 thousand 400.
Ballinasloe saw its jobless figure fall by 34 in October, meaning there are now just over 18 hundred people out work.
There was a drop of 10 in the unemployment figure for Gort last month.
There are now just over 11 hundred people out of work in Gort.
The only area to see an increase in unemployment last month was Clifden where an extra 10 people joined the Live Register.
Clifden’s unemployment figure now stands at 823.
Overall the unemployment figure for Galway at the end of October was 15 thousand 677, a drop of 634 from September.
Unemployment is down by 13 per cent compared to this time last year.
