Galway Bay fm newsroom – Fire crews in the county were kept busy last night (24/4) as they tackled blazes in Portumna and Athenry.
Crews from Portumna spent almost 4 hours battling a gorse fire in the Woodford area which broke out around 7.30p.m.
However there was no threat to neighbouring property and no-one was injured.
Meanwhile, fire crews attended a fire at a barn in Athenry around 9p.m but brought the situation under control within half an hour.
