Galway Bay fm newsroom – The district courts across Galway are among the busiest in the country, according to new figures from the Courts Service.
More than 450,000 cases were dealt with in district courts around the country in 2014.
The highest case count in any district with a single judge assigned was almost 15,000, in District 12.
The district covers Gort, Ennis, Kilrush and Killaloe.
District 7, where Judge Mary Fahy is assigned, covers Clifden, Kilronan, Derrynea and Galway City.
During 2014, the district had a case count of more than 14,850.
There are 59 District Court judges across Ireland – 41 are assigned to specific districts, and 18 moveable judges cover leave, specially fixed cases and extra sittings.
According to the Irish Times, the judges earn between 111 thousand euro and 123 thousand euro, depending on year of appointment.
