Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway West TD says that Minister Alan Kelly’s arrogance is matched only by his failure to tackle the housing crisis.
Deputy Catherine Connolly’s comments came during a heated and lengthy debate in the Dail on housing and homelessness in the state.
In her maiden speech, Deputy Connolly told the chamber that Minister Kelly has failed to both accept his role in creating the crisis and apologise to the public.
Her comments were echoed by several other deputies during the four hour debate, with Deputy Ruth Coppinger remarking that Minister Kelly’s demeanor has changed little despite the devastation of the Labour party.
A clearly exasperated Minister Kelly spoke of the complexity of the issue, and stated that no instant answer or magic wand would address the situation.
However, Deputy Connolly told the Dáil that the housing crisis was avoidable – and the government is largely to blame for the situation which now exists.
