Galway Bay fm newsroom – A public event will take place in the city this evening to discuss how culture works and how it can be sustained and developed in Galway.
The event is organised by Galway City Council and will feature presentations from European cities including Liverpool, Barcelona and Lille.
It’s part of an overall ten year cultural strategy developed by Galway City Council and ties in with Galway’s bid for European Capital of Culture status.
It’s also linked to a European pilot project on cultural sustainable cities, which involves 10 cities across the continent including Galway.
Visiting speakers at this evenings event will give presentations about culture in their respective cities and its long term impact.
The public talk gets underway at the Harbour Hotel this evening at 6.
City Spokesperson Gary McMahon says the event will explore how Galway can build on it’s unique cultural identity.
