Galway Bay fm newsroom – Employees at over a hundred Tesco shops, including stores in the city, Ballinasloe and Oranmore are being balloted for industrial action.
Over 12,000 workers, including 500 Galway employees, are voting on whether or not to down tools in the row over pay.
Unions say the company has refused to implement a Labour Court recommendation for a two per cent pay increase.
It’s expected that the workers will vote in favour of walking off the job – however the result won’t be known for several weeks given the number of staff involved.
