Galway Bay fm newsroom – Additional daily inspections are to be undertaken on roadworks being carried out on the N59.
It follows concerns from motorists along the route towards Connemara who have complained of traffic obstructions and hazards as a result of the laying of a 110KV electricity line from Roscahill to Ballybrit.
The project is being undertaken by GMC Utilities Group Limited on behalf of SSE and is expected to be complete by September.
Work will be suspended over the weekend, but a traffic management plan will remain in place.
Jason Cooke from SSE told Keith Finnegan that extra monitoring of the roadworks will be undertaken to allay the concerns of local residents and motorists.
Jason Cooke also says that work will be suspended over the Easter weekend from Saturday but contact details will be available for any issues which may arise.
