Galway Bay fm newsroom – A special meeting of the City Council is due to take place in the next few minutes to elect a replacement for Catherine Connolly.
The Independent deputy was elected to the Dáil in last month’s general election.
A meeting has been convened to elect her replacement on the local authority and is scheduled to get underway at 2p.m.
So far, Deputy Connolly has refused to be drawn on who her replacement will be including whether or not her sister, Collette, who is a former Labour city councillor, is being considered.
