Galway Bay fm newsroom – Coastal searches have resumed in the city this lunchtime for a young man who was seen entering the water at Wolfe Tone Bridge last evening.
Gardaí and the coastguard helicopter were deployed to Galway Docks and the Claddagh at 6.30pm.
It’s been confirmed that the man they are searching for is in his 30s.
Meanwhile, another search was carried out near Mutton Island at around 10 last night following reports that a person had been heard calling for help in the area – but no-one was found.
Searches of both areas got underway again shortly before noon, and Gardaí say they do not know at this stage if the incidents are connected.
