Galway Bay fm newsroom – There’s been a further delay in the construction of a new building for Clifden Community School.
The Department of Education says no commencement date has yet been determined for the long-awaited works – or the signing of a contract for the project.
The department had previously told Galway Bay fm news that construction would begin in late January or early February this year.
The existing school was built in 1979 and was never fully completed.
The project involves the demolition of the exisiting school and prefabs and the construction of a new two-storey and part three-storey school.
Galway West Fianna Fáil candidate Eamon O’Cuív says he’s ‘dismayed’ that construction has not yet begun.
