Wind warning for most of day in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Wind conditions in the west of the county are not expected to improve significantly today.
Motorists are being advised to take extra care on roads in the city and county as adverse weather is making conditions dangerous.
Gale force winds and rain have hit many parts of the county overnight resulting in fallen debris and surface water.
Met Eireann issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Galway this morning which remains in place along the coast.
There have been gales of up to 65 kilometres per hour – these have hit 100 kilometres per hour in some areas.
There are also large amounts of surface water on all roads in the city and county this morning and gardaí are advising motorists to slow down and remain a good distance back from the car in front.
Siobhán Ryan from Met Éireann says it’ll remain windy in Galway for much of the day.
