Galway Bay fm newsroom – A long-awaited traffic calming scheme for the village of Claregalway is ‘going nowhere’.
That’s according to Councillor Jim Cuddy, who told a meeting of the Athenry-Oranmore District that the scheme seemed to be ‘going backwards’.
It follows the revelation that 100 thousand euro has been allocated towards the traffic calming scheme in the County Roads Programme for 2016.
Councillor James Charity told the meeting that 200 thousand euro was allocated to the proposed scheme last year – and appeared to have been spent entirely on consultants.
He asked if another 100 thousand euro would be spent on consultations this year while Claregalway experiences another 12 months of traffic gridlock.
Councillor Jim Cuddy says too much money is being wasted while the situation in Claregalway continues to worsen.
