Galway Bay fm newsroom – One person was hospitalised following a crash near Ballinasloe last night.(14/2)
Two cars were involved in the collision at Shralee on the Shannonbridge Road about two miles from Ballinasloe at around 11p.m.
Fire crews and emergency services attended the scene and the driver of one of the cars was taken by ambulance to Portiuncula Hospital.
Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Meanwhile, Galway Fire Brigade assisted with a river rescue overnight.
It’s understood they received a report that a person entered the water at Mutton Island shortly after 2a.m.
The rescue was brought to a successful end and the fire crew returned to base within a half hour.
