Galway Bay fm newsroom – There is a strong garda presence at Galway Airport in Carnmore after a number of Traveller families moved their caravans in overnight.
The 9 families, which include pregnant women and 15 children, are understood to have illegally gained entry to the site just after midnight.
Gardaí are at the scene, and say they are working with the City and County Councils in a bid to resolve the issue.
Earlier this week, the displaced Travellers – who were originally living at Carrowbrowne – were said to be working with the council in a bid to move on from a controversial encampment near Millar’s Lane in Knocknacarra.
Some Travellers at Galway Airport told Galway Bay fm News that the Council’s must do something to accommodate them in a suitable location.
