A Corofin boy has settled his action against the HSE.
5 year old Rian Murphy suffered serious injuries during his delivery at University Hospital Galway in March 2010.
Rian Murphy, of Ardskeaghmore, Corofin, Tuam has settled his action against the HSE for €650,000.
The five year old suffered severe injury in which all of his shoulder nerves were damaged during a forceps delivery at UHG on March 27, 2010.
When he was born, it was noted that he had no movement of the right arm and later had to undergo surgery.
Senior Consul Denis McCullough told the High Court that it was mystifying why three pulls of force had to be applied to a four pound baby.
Though his mother Ann Murphy, Rian brought the action against the HSE over alleged failure to properly and carefully carry out the forceps delivery.
The HSE denied those claims.
Mr Justice Kevin Cross said the figure was a good settlement, and he wished Rian well for the future.
