Galway Bay fm newsroom – Funding of 190 thousand euro has been ringfenced for environmental and heritage projects across the city and county.
21 heritage projects to benefit from a share of 117 thousand euro in funding this year, while a further 48 thousand euro will be used to tackle litter and graffiti across Galway this year.
67 thousand euro in heritage funding will be shared between six city projects – including conservation works at St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church and 5 Nun’s Island.
A further 50 thousand euro will be used to repair and conserve 15 buildings across the county.
This money will be used for works at buildings including Mountbellew Desmesne, Palmerstown House in Portumna and Christ Church in Clifden.
Meanwhile, 48 thousand euro has been ringfenced to tackle litter and graffiti across Galway city and county.
The funding has been announced under the national Anti-Litter and Anti-Graffiti grant schemes.
Galway City and County Councils will share a further 25 thousand euro under the Local Environment Partnership Fund.
This money will be used to support local environmental initiatives by communities, individuals and not-for-profit groups across the city and county.
