Galway Bay fm newsroom – The go-ahead has been given to build new student accommodation for NUI Galway.
The university has been granted planning permission for the development at the northern campus.
The development will comprise 429 bed spaces generally arranged in 57 units of 6 en-suite rooms, 11 units of 5 en-suite bedrooms and 8 units of 4 en-suite rooms.
It’ll include communal areas, office accommodation and covered cycle storage facilities in 4 blocks ranging from 3-storey to 5 storey.
Access to the new student accommodation will be via the existing Corrib Village access road.
City planners have imposed 14 conditions on the development.
One stipulation is that prior to the student residence being occupied, details of the specific management regime and noise protocols must be approved with the local authority.
