Galway Bay fm newsroom – ESB Networks is urging the public to avoid using boats to travel close to electricity lines in flooded areas of Galway.
The company has issued a warning after reports of people using canoes to traverse floods in the south Galway area.
It says that some people are engaging in ‘flood tourism’, using flotation devices to travel through water that would not ordinarily be present in an area.
Matt Cunningham from ESB Networks says they’re very concerned about people in boats coming close to live electricty wires which have been compromised by water.
