Galway Bay fm newsroom – Road safety measures worth half a million euro have been announced for the Western Distributor Road in the city.
Money has been granted by the Department of Transport for Road Junction Safety Solutions for the road, which is the main artery through Knocknacarra.
Labour Councillor Niall McNelis says the works will focus on the Clybaun, Bothar Stiofain and Ballymoneen roundabouts following long-standing concerns in the area.
He says safety issues have been highlighted by residents and the Parents’ Association of St. John the Apostle school over the last number of years.
Councillor McNelis says it’s hoped the long-awaited safety works can begin in February.
