Head of Emerging Business with IDA Ireland, Barry O’ Dowd made the comments at the launch of 65 new jobs for the city today.
Medical device company Phenox GmbH is opening a manufacturing facility at the Kamrick Court Building in Ballybrit.
Phenox Ireland Limited will manufacture devices for the treatment of stroke and aneurysms.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton launched the facility today which is currently being fitted out for use in early 2016.
Minister Bruton says Galway has the experience to cater for companies such as Phenox.
Director of Phenox in Galway, Ken Beatty says they’re announcing 65 jobs today but they expect to grow that figure over time.
Phenox Founder and Managing Director Dr. Hermann Monstadt says Galway attracted his company because of the experience it can offer.
IDA Ireland is supporting the establishment of Phenox’s new facility in Ballybrit.
Head of Emerging Business with IDA, Barry O’ Dowd says Galway now ranks among the best medtech locations in the world.
Minister Bruton is also visiting a new manufacturing facility for Medtronic along with IDA representatives.
The facility will have 20 thousand square feet of space and will cost about 13 million euro.
