Galway Bay fm newsroom – A Galway politician has launched an online campaign for immediate action to tackle Galway’s traffic problems.
Independent Senator, Fidelma Healy-Eames has set up www.galwaytraffic.ie as a petition and forum for people to express their views.
The senator says she is sick of getting stuck in traffic every time she gets in her car, like thousands of motorists every day.
The campaign has four proposals for immediate action – a city school bus system, a ‘high occupancy’ lane allowing car pooling motorists to use bus lanes, a bus lane across the Quincentennary Bridge and a light rail system for the city.
Senator Healy-Eames is encouraging people to log onto galwaytraffic.ie to sign the petition and get involved.
