Galway Bay fm newsroom – The transformation of Loughrea Lake into an ‘Urban Beach’ would help make the town a major tourist destination.
That’s according to Senator Lorraine Higgins, who says that Loughrea’s hospitality sector is in a good position to capitalise on increased tourist numbers.
An urban beach is an artificially-created environment in towns or cities which simulates a beachfront with sand, umbrellas and seating.
Senator Higgins says the development would increase tourism interest in Loughrea.
