Gardai conduct house to house inquiries in Headford following attempted raid

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Gardai are conducting house to house inquiries in the Headford area this afternoon following an attempted robbery at a local business this morning.
Raiders drove a jeep through the front entrance of Monaghan’s Centra on the Galway Road between 2 and 4.30am in a bid to force their way into the premises.
In the darkness of the very early hours, raiders used a dark coloured jeep stolen in the Tuam area yesterday evening to crash their way into Monaghan’s Centra on the Galway Road.
However, despite their efforts, it’s understood any attempt to take cash or goods proved unsuccessful – and Gardai believe they may have used a silver saloon car to flee the scene.
Gardai are now conducting house to house enquiries in the area and examining CCTV footage as part of the ongoing investigation.
Anyone who may have seen such a vehicle acting suspiciously in the area between 2am and 4.30am is urged to contact Tuam Garda Station at 093-70840.
