Galway Bay fm newsroom – Plans for a major student accommodation block in the city have encountered a setback.
CWC Webworks Limited had been granted planning permission for the development at Fairgreen Road in September with 19 conditions.
However this has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála due to concerns surrounding the permissable plot ratio.
The project sets out to build a six-storey block in total, including ground floor level providing for managed student accommodation and associated facilities.
The ground level would be an extension of the existing coach station at Fairgreen Road which has been previously granted planning permission.
The accommodation will be made up of 46 units ranging from 1 to 6 bed units, providing a total bed space of 147 within the block.
Communal areas would also be provided.
A third party appeal has now been lodged with the higher planning authority with concerns which include the permissable plot ratio.
An Bord Pleanála is due to make a decision in February (24/02).
