Eight Galway projects approved under national town and village renewal scheme

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Eight towns and villages across Galway have been approved for funding under the national town and village renewal scheme.
The scheme is focused on centres with smaller populations – 50% of the fund will go to towns or villages with less than 5,000 residents.
€70,000 has been awarded to Athenry for improvement and refurbishment of footpaths.
Rosmuc will receive 42 thousand euro for improvement and refurbishment of footpaths.
20,000 has been ringfenced for Oughterard for the development of a walking and bike trail
Ballinasloe will get 63,000 euro for the reconstruction and enhancement of footpaths
€50,000 in funding has been approved for Gort for the enhancement of footpaths, landscaping and the local playground
€85,000 has been approved for renovations to Tuam’s historic mill wheel
A further €25,000 has been sanctioned for upgrading of amenities at Portumna Forest Park, while another €25,000 will be used to develop a report to guide plans for the future of Loughrea.
Gaeltacht Minister and Galway West/South Mayo TD Sean Kyne says even more funding will be made available next year.
