Official sod turning for Oughterard wastewater treatment plant

Galway Bay fm newsroom – An official sod-turning next week will mark the beginning of long awaited works at Oughterard water treatment plant.
The project led by Irish Water will involve an investment of 4.2 million euro.
This will increase the capacity of the current facility to allow for future growth in population as well as economic development.
It’s also expected to improve water quality in the Owenriff River and Lough Corrib.
These are both areas of ecological importance due to the freshwater pearl mussel.
Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs and Galway West Fine Gael TD Sean Kyne will officiate at the sod turning on Monday at 11am at Connemara Lake Hotel.
