NUI Galway to honour oldest living graduate

Galway Bay fm newsroom – NUI Galway’s oldest living graduate will be honoured by her alma mater next week.
Anne Byrne, née Gannon, is celebrating 80 years since her graduation in 1936, and has been recognised as the first private individual to make tape recordings of Irish traditional music in Ireland.
She has donated her collection, which she first began in 1954, to the Irish State -where it is being digitised by the Irish Traditional Music Archive in Dublin.
Anne will participate a public interview at NUIG’s Aras na MacLeinn at 6pm on Thursday next, the 3rd of November.
