Galway Bay fm newsroom – The future of the city’s strategic infrastructure and ongoing traffic problems were the central focus of discussion at a meeting of Galway Chamber of Commerce with the Taoiseach this week.
Enda Kenny met with the President of the Chamber Conor O’Dowd as well as other committee members.
Top of the agenda at this week’s meeting was the proposed establishment of a development authority to encompass certain strategic lands.
The Galway Development Authority or ‘GDA’would then be charged with developing a master plan and planning schemes for the areas under its responsibility.
Continued peak time traffic congestion at Parkmore Business Park was also highlighted, as well as the the negative impact on business and potential future FDI.
The work of the Galway Technology Centre and the PorterShed was also presented as well as a case which argued how a wider Western Innovation Network could be set up across the region.
It was agreed that meetings would be arranged with Ministerial colleagues as a first step forward on the matters under discussion.
