Galway Bay fm newsroom – A city-based medical technology company is planning to expand its business into emergency departments in hospitals across the world.
Aerogen’s aerosol drug delivery devices are already in use in intensive care units.
The latest research suggests that Aerogen’s technology can reduce medication required by patients who attend emergency departments with respiratory-related conditions.
According to today’s Irish Times, this could result in a cut of up to a third in the rate of admissions to the hospital.
Aerogen, which is based at Dangan in the city, employs 140 people with more that half of them based in Galway.
The company has recorded 30 per cent growth year-on-year for the past 8 years and last year made a pre-tax profit of more than 10 million euro.
