Gardaí reviewing the case of a Connemara woman who went missing from her home in Carna 30 years ago have descended on a location near her home.
33-year old Barbara Walsh was reported missing from her home in Rusheenamanagh after a party on June 29th 1985.
She was married with a young family at the time she went missing.
Her husband has since passed away but her children are anxious to find answers to the mystery of their mother’s disappearance.
Earlier this year, Galway Gardaí announced that they would be reviewing the case.
Excavation machines have now been brought to a location close to Barbara’s home under the supervision of more than 20 Gardaí.
A full review of this case was launched in January 2015 as part of an ongoing review of all missing persons in the Galway Garda Division. A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established. 112 lines of enquiry have been generated and close to 60 people have been interviewed in the course of this review.
