Culture Night will see thousands of free community events take place across Ireland.
Culture Night is an initiative of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs.
Events are run across Ireland in partnership with regional arts offices, local authorities and cultural organisations.
Some of the city highlights include a major conference at NUI Galway to explore the university’s history in times of war and revolution.
It gets underway at 6 this evening.
Aras na nGael, Dominick Street will host an open night to showcase the best of the Irish language, music and dancing.
The City Museum will host a talk on 21st century technology in Galway in the 1980s.
In the county, Athenry is putting the finishing touches to its celebration of song, dance and theatre, with several performances to take place in the town from 6 this evening.
The Re-launch of Stoney Brennan will take place at McD’s carpark, Fairgreen Loughrea at 10 tonight, and will feature a variety of music and dance performances.
A special visual arts exhibition will open in Ballinasloe, while Barnaderg is gearing up for a ‘Hooley at the Crossroads.’
