Galway Bay fm newsroom – Galway City Council did not build any social housing between 2013 and 2015.
New figures from the Department of Housing show seven local authorities nationwide built no social housing in the three year period.
Meanwhile, Galway County Council did not build any units during 2014 or 2015.
According to the Irish Times, 833 local authority homes have been built since 2011, with just 75 constructed last year.
The Department of Housing said councils only received their allocations in April 2015 and the planning and procurement process can take up to two years.
