Galway Bay fm newsroom – Minister Simon Coveney is being urged to further extend the submissions deadline on plans to upgrade the Galway Bay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site.
Locals say that despite two extensions in recent months, the deadline is inadequate – and many people in the area still don’t fully understand the situation.
The current closing date for submissions on the proposed upgrade of the site, situated on the North side of Galway Bay, 1 mile East of Spiddal, is next Monday the 1st of August.
Local residents are unhappy with the deadline and say there is a great deal of confusion in the area over the proposed works – and they want Minister Simon Coveney to grant another extension to next week’s deadline.
If successful, it would be the third such extension in recent months.
Local campaigner Máire Ní Fhéinne says very little information has been forthcoming about the planned upgrade.
