Galway Bay fm newsroom – The Ballygar community is in shock following the death of a mother and son in a crash last night.
Tina Kelly, who was in her 30s, and her 14 year son Joey from the Doranstown area died when their car hit a tree at Ballaghlea shortly before 10pm.
They were pronounced dead at the scene and their bodies have been taken to University Hospital Galway for post mortem examinations.
The N63 was closed at Ballaghlea to allow Gardai to carry out a technical examination, but has reopened this lunchtime.
Cathaoirleach of County Galway Michael Connolly says the local community is in shock.
