Bohermore native to be ordained to the priesthood

Galway Bay Fm newsroom-A 27 year old Bohermore native will be ordained to the priesthood this afternoon. (Sunday 17/7)
Daniel Gallagher from Cooks Terrace, Bohermore will be ordained Bishop Martin Drennan at a ceremony in St. Patrick’s Church in the city.
Daniel attended St. Patrick’s Primary School and Moneenageisha College before graduating from NUI Galway with an honours degree in Irish and History.
Having applied to study for the priesthood for his home diocese Daniel was sent firstly to Mayooth and subsequently to the Irish College in Rome.
He then returned to join the Oranmore Parish Team for a final year of practical and pastoral preparation before his ordination.
Fr. Diarmuid Hogan, the Parish Priest of Oranmore, says Daniel’s humour, energy, passion and faith have touched many people in the local area.
The ordination will take place at St. Patrick’s Church in the city at 3pm and the ceremony will be open to all members of the public.
The new Fr. Daniel will offer his First Mass of Thanksgiving in St. Patrick’s Church, Galway on Monday evening.
Daniel says he’s known from a very young age that the priesthood was his calling
