Galway Bay fm newsroom – The iconic diving tower in Blackrock in Salthill is to be cleaned up.
Repainting as well as ancillary works are to be carried out in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, plans for more substantive works at the popular amenity are now proceeding to design.
It’s hoped a report will come before councillors in September.
These works would be carried out at off-peak season and would include a reconfiguration of some of the layout of facilities at Blackrock.
It follows a public consultation on the upgrade of the well-known Galway landmark.
Independent city councillor Donal Lyons says it’s important the whole city is presented well as we continue efforts to win the European Capital of Culture 2020 title.
