Galway Bay fm newsroom – A city councillor is calling for Salthill to be prioritised as a tourist attraction along the Wild Atlantic Way.
Fine Gael councillor Pearce Flannery says the seaside location should be designated as the half way point along the Fáilte Ireland route.
Councillor Flannery says the defunct tourist office is an ideal piece of infrastructure and should be used as a Wild Atlantic Way interpretive centre.
The comments come as an overseas survey has revealed that only 7 per cent of potential visitors were aware of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Councillor Flannery says this is a perfect opportunity to promote Salthill.
