Galway Bay fm newsroom – Connemara area councillors will gather on Inishbofin this afternoon where they will hold their first district meeting.
The meeting will be held at the island’s community centre at 1pm and will discuss coastal protection works undertaken following storm damage.
An Bord Pleanála’s recent refusal of long-awaited upgrade works to the N59 between Maam Cross and Clifden is also up for debate.
The stretch of road, which forms part of the only national road in Connemara, has previously been described as one of the worst routes in Ireland.
Cathaoirleach of Connemara Municipal District Eileen Mannion says Connemara and its island community needs proper road infrastructure.
