Galway Bay fm newsroom – Loughrea Chamber has published the results of a local survey which aims to guide business and tourism development in the town.
A survey of 120 businesses and over 250 residents has revealed that the majority of people are satisfied with the quality of the retail sector, restaurants and pubs in Loughrea.
However, businesses agree that more needs to be done to attract visitors to Loughrea.
Among the suggestions from local buisinesses are better signage for the lake, the restoration of the town hall, and more festivals or events to attract tourists.
It’s hoped the county council’s new Business Incentive Scheme can go some way to filling some of the vacant commercial units in the area.
Local county councillor Shane Donnellan says the survey has highlighted a number of improvements which could significantly boost the town.
