Galway Bay fm newsroom – An average of over 300 patients walk out of the emergency department at UHG before they’re discharged every month.
HSE figures for 2015 obtained by the Irish Independent show in February last year, 50 thousand patients left A&E units across Ireland – many blaming severe overcrowding and long waiting times.
In October last year, almost 400 patients walked out of the unit at UHG before they were discharged by staff.
Health Minister Simon Harris says a review of hospital beds will be carried out to help alleviate the problem.
