Galway Bay fm newsroom – The County Council is taking on a number of temporary contractors in a bid to carry out repair works on roads damaged during floods earlier this year.
The local authority received 6 million euro in additional funding under the national Severe Weather Allocation Fund.
The money will be used to repair and resurface roads damaged by flood waters, or which were used as diversions due to road closures.
The council executive says the local authority’s own workers, and some additional contractors, will be tasked with carrying out the repairs over the coming months.
