Galway Bay fm newsroom – The newly appointed Minister for Communications, Roscommon Galway TD Denis Naughten, says he’ll work closely with the Minister for Rural Affairs to ensure people across rural Galway get access to quality broadband.
Deputy Naughten’s new portfolio also gives him responsibility for Climate Change and Natural Resources.
He’s the only Galway TD to be given a senior ministry in the new Cabinet.
However, he’ll be joined by two other Galway voices at the Cabinet table, as Milltown native Mary Mitchell O’Connor takes up her role as Jobs Minister, and Tuam native Finian McGrath embarks on his career as a super junior minister with special responsibility for disability.
Speaking to Galway Bay fm news, Minister Naughten says although rural broadband is not under his remit – he’ll work closely with Minister Heather Humphreys to ensure rural communities get quality internet access.
Minister Naughten says his overall priority is to ensure economic recovery across rural Ireland.
